More than an afterschool program…

This fall, the Literacy Lighthouse will become a consistent afterschool presence for elementary students and families in the Fair Oaks community.
Through individualized reading instruction, biblical literacy, leadership development, and caring relationships, students will have a place to learn, grow, and experience genuine belonging.

Our goal is to raise $36,590 to fund the Afterschool Literacy Lighthouse.

Every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident reader—and to be surrounded by people who recognize their dignity, nurture their gifts, and remind them that they belong.
The Literacy Lighthouse brings learning directly into the neighborhood, creating a consistent place where students can receive support tailored to their needs while building meaningful relationships with caring adults and one another.

On Monday afternoons, students will experience:

  • Individualized phonics and decoding instruction

  • Reading-comprehension enrichment

  • Vocabulary, sight-word, and literacy-based learning activities

  • Old and New Testament history

  • Community leadership projects

  • Encouragement, hospitality, and caring relationships

When you give, you help create more than a weekly program. You help establish a faithful, relationship-centered presence with children and families.

Become a Lighthouse Keeper

Help keep the Lighthouse shining all year long.

Lighthouse Keepers are a dedicated community of monthly donors committed to sustaining the Literacy Lighthouse for children and families.

Monthly gifts give us a dependable foundation from which to plan, prepare, retain capable program leadership, and remain consistently present in the community.

Whether you provide four weeks or a full year, every Lighthouse Keeper helps us keep showing up.

Choose the level that is right for you:

Guiding Light — $19/month

Helps provide four weeks of programming supplies each year, including ongoing support books, learning materials, hospitality, and other essentials that make each weekly session possible.

Beacon Builder — $38/month

Helps provide one-quarter of a student’s year and strengthen the people and programming that provide individualized literacy instruction, biblical literacy, leadership development, and caring relationships.

Lighthouse Sustainer — $76/month

Helps cover half of a student’s year, securing one semester of literacy instruction, a student leadership project, and supporting the relationship-building needed between staff, volunteers, and families.

Student Champion — $153/month

Helps provide one student’s full 32-week experience, including paid leadership, program resources, and community engagement efforts needed to keep the Literacy Lighthouse present and growing in impact throughout the school year.

“The Literacy Lighthouse did just that for my heart—it allowed God to shine a light on what life could be. As I worked with these children and witnessed their pure hearts, their learning, and their growth, God used them to teach me and help me grow, too.”

Edmond

“To be able to be a presence with our students and watch God transform their hearts as we worked with and got to know them has changed my own heart.”

Prefer to Make a One-Time Gift?

Every gift helps launch the Afterschool Literacy Lighthouse.

Whether you give $25, $100, $500, or another amount, your generosity will help provide the staffing, learning resources, hospitality, and program support needed to serve students and families this school year.

Every level matters. Every Lighthouse Keeper helps tend the light.

Your Gift Supports the Whole Lighthouse

We believe in communicating honestly about how donations are used. Gifts to the Afterschool Lighthouse Launch support the program’s overall $36,590 operating goal—including staffing, program delivery, materials, hospitality, community engagement, and other essential expenses.

Donation amounts and giving levels illustrate how supporters can participate; they do not restrict a gift to one particular student, item, or expense unless explicitly stated.

Tend the Light With Us

A lighthouse shines because someone faithfully tends it.

By becoming a monthly Lighthouse Keeper or making a one-time launch gift, you are helping create a place where young readers can grow in skill and confidence, families can experience meaningful community, and relationships can flourish across differences.

Help us raise $36,590 by August 28.
